ACTON - A brush fire in a rural Acton neighborhood left one crew member injured and destroyed an outbuilding and a truck today before being brought under control, a county fire official said.
The fire erupted about 11 a.m. in the 6700 block of West Hubbard Road and was fully contained about four hours later at about 100 acres, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Don Kunitomi.
More than 200 firefighters were deployed, along with four water-dropping helicopters supplied by the county and city of Los Angeles fire departments, Kunitomi said.
Evacuations were ordered for several homes in the Jones Canyon area, but the order was lifted around 2 p.m., he said.
A fire crew member was hurt in the blaze, but it was unclear how serious the injury was, Kunitomi said.
Fire investigators believe the blaze was caused by the accidental short- circuiting of some electrical equipment, Kunitomi said. CNS-06-23-2011 16:12
