Is Mark Sanchez dating Hayden Panettiere?

Mark Sanchez seems to be Hayden Panettiere's type: tall, dark and a professional athlete.

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez seems to have found himself a cheerleader gal pal during his off-season.

Hayden Panettiere, best known for her role as cheerleader Claire Bennet in the cancelled TV series "Heroes," was spotted hanging out with the hot NFL star in Laguna Hills, Calif. on Monday.

The pair walked into an In-N-Out Burger with another couple and ordered their food together, RumorFix.com reported. Sanchez, 24, reportedly footed the bill for his daytime date with the 21-year-old blond beauty.

"They seemed very close and very happy," an eyewitness told the gossip site. "When they walked out of the fast food restaurant, Mark was flashing a huge smile."

The twosome's recent outing comes just days after they were rumored to be dating.

According to TerezOwens.com, Sanchez and Panettiere met several months ago and "hit it off instantly and exchanged numbers."

However, at the time, the "Scream 4" actress was in a two-year relationship with heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko.

It wasn't until the couple decided to call it quits just over two weeks ago that Panettiere allegedly gave Sanchez a call. Since then, the two have reportedly been trying to keep their new romance under wraps.

'Jersey Shore' star Snooki crashes into police car in Italy

MTV cameras was pictured captured Snooki's car crash in Florence, Italy on Monday.

Andrew H. Walker/WireImage

MTV cameras was pictured captured Snooki's car crash in Florence, Italy on Monday.

Even over 4,000 miles away, Snooki still manages to get in trouble with the law.

The "Jersey Shore" cast member, whose real name is Nicole Polizzi, was taken into custody in Florence today after crashing into a police car, TMZ.com reports.

The pint-sized reality star, who is in Italy filming the fourth season of the hit MTV reality show with her housemates, was reportedly behind the wheel when she struck the back of the other vehicle. No one was injured and "zero alcohol was involved," a source told the gossip site.

The crash reportedly wedged Snooki's vehicle between the other car and a highway protection wall. Co-star Deena was a passenger at the time of the accident and had to exit the car by climbing out a window because her door was blocked by a wall.

Though Snooki is in custody, TMZ reports that she has not been formally arrested.

This isn't the 23-year-old's first brush with the law, however.

Last September, the self-proclaimed "guidette" was fined $500 and sentenced to community service for pleading guilty to her July 30 arrest for being drunk in public. She was not only charged with disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance, but also annoying people on a New Jersey beach.

Interest Rates: Bank Of Canada Closely Watched For Announcement

(CBC) -- Eight times a year, the attention of Canada's financial world collectively turns to the governor of the Bank of Canada. On those select days -- always a Tuesday -- the central bank boss issues a short statement in the morning that attracts an extraordinary amount of scrutiny from a gaggle of analysts and bankers.

Why all the attention? It's because these statements are all about interest rates. This is where bankers, business people, homeowners and debtors all find out if the cost of money is going up or down -- now and in the near future.

Raising and lowering interest rates is the Bank of Canada's primary tool to either jump-start the economy or try to cool it down. This is when Canadians find out if the interest rates on their variable mortgages or lines of credit are changing.

These days, the talk is all about the cost of money going up. The Bank of Canada's current overnight lending rate -- the benchmark that everyone watches -- is at just one per cent, even after three small increases of a quarter of a percentage point each in 2010.

That's still very low by historical standards -- a deliberate policy decision by the central bank to encourage borrowing and re-inflate the economy after the bruising recession that began in late 2008.

With the economy now growing again and unemployment gradually falling, the Bank of Canada is now weighing a tricky decision -- when and how quickly to resume rate hikes.

Too soon and too fast and it runs the risk of snuffing out the nascent recovery. But wait too long or hike too slowly and the steady supply of still-cheap money runs the risk of overheating the economy -- a reality that typically manifests itself through unacceptably high inflation.

That's the delicate balancing act Mark Carney faces. And he has no shortage of critics -- professional and amateur -- with their own thoughts on the matter.
Why raise rates?

The main argument in favour of immediate and steady rate increases is that inflation is already above the central bank's stated comfort range of one to three per cent annually (3.3 per cent as of April). That thinking was behind the recent "raise rates now" recommendation of the C.D. Howe Institute's Monetary Policy Council.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development notes that, at one per cent, Canada's key lending rate is still "highly stimulative." The OECD said the Bank of Canada should soon resume raising interest rates "at a moderate pace."

But the consensus among central bank watchers is that Carney won't be in any rush to raise. This crowd cites a number of factors:

* Economic growth (which was running at an annual pace of 3.9 per cent in the first quarter) is expected to soften in the next few months, largely because of supply chain disruptions to Canada's auto sector caused by the Japanese earthquake disaster.

* Canadian households remain highly indebted (the average family debt-to-income ratio has hit a record 150 per cent, the Vanier Institute of the Family reported earlier this year). Those debts are already causing many to cut back on their spending, with consumer spending flat or even negative earlier this year. Dramatically higher interest rates would weaken the ability of many families to cope.

* The Canadian dollar -- already well above parity with its U.S. counterpart -- is hurting the competitiveness of Canadian exporters. Increases in the key interest rate in Canada, in the absence of similar increases south of the border, would drive the loonie even higher.

* Stimulus spending by the federal government largely wound up a couple of months ago and the drive by all governments (federal and provincial) to cut back on spending in the future to eventually balance their books will be a drag on growth.

* The global economic picture is gloomier than it was a few months ago as the sovereign debt crisis sweeping through parts of Europe (notably Greece) keeps rearing its head. Growth in China is also moderating and, in the U.S., high unemployment levels and a persistently weak housing market are expected to continue to keep consumers cautious.

* While it's true that total CPI inflation in Canada is running at a hot 3.3 per cent, the core rate of inflation, which excludes such volatile items like energy and fresh fruit and vegetables, is just 1.6 per cent -- not a level that the Bank of Canada needs to immediately worry about.

Faced with all the economic push-and-pull, analysts were almost unanimous in their views that the central bank's key rate wouldn't move on May 31. That was quite a change from just a few months ago, when many analysts were calling for a May hike. But that was then. While a few analysts are now calling for a July rate hike, most say that Mark Carney will likely hold off on making any hike until the fall.

"Recent communications from Bank of Canada officials suggest that they are not in a rush to raise interest rates in light of their growing concerns about developments such as the high Canadian dollar and the uncertain global economic climate," reads a recent briefing note from TD Economics.

The watchwords for the Bank of Canada -- at least for the medium term -- seem to be for a gradual phase-out of its low interest rate policy.

Look for an overnight lending rate of perhaps 1.75 per cent by the end of the year and a more "normal" overnight rate of three per cent by mid-2012, the markets are saying now.

But that will depend on how the governments, consumers and economies of the world behave in the months to come.

Sean Kingston Stabilized After Jet Ski Accident

Hip-hop star Sean Kingston was operating a jet ski in Miami Beach early Sunday evening when the watercraft collided with the Palm Island Bridge. His condition has now been stabilized.

"Sean was heading west from the MacArthur Causeway and Miami Beach Islands when his personal watercraft collided with the bridge, and he and his female passenger ended up in the water," Jorge Pino, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the lead investigative agency of the accident, tells PEOPLE.

"A good Samaritan tended to the two of them until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived and saw there were injuries," added Pino.

The rescue team's assessment was to transport the star and his female passenger to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center in Miami around 6 p.m.

The singer's publicist, Joseph Carozza, issued the following: "Sean Kingston is now stabilized and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU. Sean's family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time."

Pino said investigations into the cause of the accident are still underway, but "nothing indicates there was alcohol involved."

"Nine times out of 10, recklessness on the water involving personal watercraft contributes to accidents," Pino tells PEOPLE. "That is not necessarily the cause of this one, but we spend a lot of time patrolling the areas looking for violations with jet skis and motor boats."

Kingston, 21, best known for his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls," recently collaborated with Justin Beiber for "Eenie Meeni." As the 17-year-old Tweeted: "Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight. a true friend and big bro. please keep him in your prayers tonight as well."

Pippa Middleton's Day at the French Open

Starting off her week with one the the world's most watched competitions, Pippa Middleton and her friends attended the French Open in Paris, France earlier today (May 30).

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge sported an effortlessly classic chic look to the star-studded match, pairing a basic black top with a black and white polka-dotted skirt.

Pippa, an avid tennis player herself, sat on the Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros, laughing with pals as Rafael Nadal defeated Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic by a score of 7-5 6-3 6-3.

After the match was through, Miss Middleton and her mates watched Robin Soderling's straight set winning effort against Gilles Simon.

Kim Kardashian's engagement ring 'wins' over family

Kim Kardashian's newest bling beats out sister Khloe's engagement ring, according to their family.

Kim Kardashian's newest bling beats out sister Khloe's engagement ring, according to their family.

It's the battle of the bling among the Kardashian Klan.

Newly engaged Kim Kardashian now leads the pack of diamond-wearing women in her family, now that she's rocking a 20.5-carat engagement ring from New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries.

Though sister Khlo's 12.5-carat engagement bling from Lakers star Lamar Odom was once the envy of her siblings, Kim's new accessory takes the cake.

"Kim wins! Kim's is the largest!" sister Kourtney told People.

Humphries' extravagant gift wasn't just a surprise to Kim ? the massive sparkler equally shocked the reality star's family.

"We had no idea [about the engagement]," Kourtney added. "We were both surprised at the dinner when Kim came out with her big rock and she started waving it in the air!"

The ring, which features a 16.5-carat emerald-cut center stone flanked by two 2-carat trapezoids, likely weighs about 4 ounces and possibly more if the ring is set in heavy platinum, Jennifer Gandia, co-owner of NYC's Greenwich Jewelers, told the Daily News.

In terms of weight: imagine strapping a deck and a half of cards on your finger.

"A ring that heavy would become uncomfortable for most women," Gandia said.

But alas, if there's one thing we've learned, it's that Kim Kardashian is not like most women.

Meeting to focus on DWP rates

The City Council hasn't yet hired a ratepayer advocate who could analyze any rate hikes proposed by the Department of Water and Power.

But, in a first-of-its-kind meeting, the council's Energy and Environment Committee and the civilian DWP commission will hold a joint meeting on Saturday to review the DWP's financial plan and its needs for future rate increases.

DWP General Manager Ron Nichols will make the presentation, which is expected to include a forecast of rates.

Councilwoman Jan Perry, who chairs the committee, said she sees the hearing as a precursor to the ratepayer advocate - officially, the Office of Public Accountability.

"I want to make it clear that we will not move ahead with any rate increases until we have the Office of Public Accountability created," Perry said. "What I hope this meeting accomplishes is laying out a clear understanding of what the DWP needs and what it is looking at."

The meeting will be held 9-11 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 N. Spring St.

As for the ratepayer advocate, the council's Rules Committee is to get a report on Wednesday on the process for hiring for the new office. Perry said she hopes to see the new department in place by the end of the year.

City Controller Wendy Greuel is trying to mine city departments for more gold.

As in the Gold Card Desk, a little-known operation at the Department of Transportation, which was created to handle complaints

about parking citations.

At the Current Affairs Forum luncheon last week, Greuel said her office will investigate whether other agencies have similar programs that expedite or dismiss tickets and fines - especially those that fail to keep adequate documentation.

"So many people have said, `Are there others?"' Greuel said.

Greuel said her audit of the Gold Card Desk came to light as the result of a complaint from a whistle-blower. Some officials have defended the program as a constituent service with an indefensible name.

Feeling the love.

City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, one of two candidates in a July 12 runoff for Congress, is getting all sorts of warm and fuzzy feelings from Democrats around the country.

Hahn last week received endorsements from a host of fellow Democrats, including Gov. Jerry Brown, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and former presidential candidate Howard Dean. She also got the official support of Emily's List, the National Women's Political Caucus and Patricia Bellasalman, president of the National Organization for Women.

She also has been endorsed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Rep. Howard Berman and the California Democratic delegation in Congress.

Her GOP rival, Craig Huey, has received endorsements from Reps. Tom McClintock, Dana Rohrabacher, Ed Pence and other conservatives.

The two are vying for the 36th Congressional District seat formerly held by Jane Harmon, who resigned to become president and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson Center.

To politicians, they are referred to as "grips-and-grins" - fundraisers held at the homes of supporters, with a small group of potential donors as guests.

And, from the looks of it, candidate Austin Beutner will have sore hands for a while.

Beutner, who served for a year as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's jobs czar, has five events scheduled through mid-June.

One of the bigger events is scheduled for June 7 at the Brentwood home of former Mayor Richard Riordan. Two others are taking him outside the L.A. city limits - with one in Beverly Hills and another in Hidden Hills.

Greuel and Perry, who also are interested in becoming mayor, also have events scheduled: Greuel's is in Encino and Perry's will be in downtown Los Angeles.

Music lovers gathered at the annual Topanga Days Celebration at the Topanga Community Center Sunday. The music, crafts, food and fun continue through Monday.

IF YOU GO

Topanga Days continues today with a Memorial Day Parade beginning at 9 a.m.at 1440 N. Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Topanga. Admission to the festival is $20 for adults, and $10 for children age 6 to 12, or seniors 65 and older. Park along Topanga Canyon Boulevard. For information call 310-455-1980.

TOPANGA - Mild temperatures mingled with cool grooves Sunday as throngs of peace lovers and tie-dye-wearing admirers gathered in Topanga for music, food, and a little consciousness raising.

Those who attend the annual Topanga Days festival each year say the event brings back the feeling of the peace, love and anti-war movement of the 1960s and early 70s, but with some modern twists: the smell of coconut-fragranced sunblock overpowers all other aromas.

Yet some things never change, like women in long flowing peasant skirts, long-haired guys in tie-dye shirts, children with painted daisies on their faces and the always popular music festival.

For those who grew up in the 70s, there was no other place to be on Memorial Day weekend.

"The music is beautiful and this is a great place to people watch," said Alice Carrubba of Topanga. "Everyone here is so unique."

"The music makes you move, even if you're not a mover," agreed Theresa Bachrach of North Hills.

Headliners in this year's festival included Jim Messina on Saturday, the Stray Cats' Lee Rocker on Sunday and The Fabulous Thunderbirds today. A Memorial Day parade, plus games and contests also will be held today

Those who craved different sounds headed to the Canyon Underground for open drum circles, belly dancing, and world music beats.

All across the grounds off of north Topanga Canyon Boulevard, fairgoers stretched out and relaxed on blankets or

chairs, or milled about the vendors and booths to snack on vegan wraps, drink fresh-squeezed lemonade, and to admire and buy handmade blouses and beaded necklaces.

Lina Sved, a musician who has lived in Topanga for 14 years, said she comes to the festival every year with her four children. She runs a booth where she writes spontaneous poetry for $1.

"It's one of my favorite weekends," she said. "It's an incredible experience to write poetry to incredible music. I go home with so many poems and lyrics."

Each year, Topanga Days attracts thousands from all over California. The event serves as a fundraiser that helps support the local arts in the area as well as the charitable work through the Topanga Community Club, organizers said.

Ted Hagash was waiting for his son's band, Weather Planning, to come onstage.

"I have a lot of friends in Topanga," he said. "It reminds me of a small-town festival."

John Kelly and his family drove in from Playa del Rey to come to Topanga Days.

"I just love the atmosphere," he said. "We also love all the vendors. It's just so fun. People here are always in a good mood."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Might Be Considering Marriage

Photo: INFdaily.com

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie always claimed that they wouldn?t get married until gay marriage was legalized and ?everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able,? but the couple might be reconsidering. In a recent interview, Pitt revealed that their kids have started asking about marriage. He andAngelinadon?t want to ignore something that?s important to the children.

?The kids ask about marriage. It?s meaning more and more to them. So it?s something we?ve got to look at.?

Pitt also revealed that their kids have taught them other things as well. He believes that children are likea ?mirror? and they make you realize that you can?t make excuses if they need something.

?You?ve got to make sure they?ve brushed their teeth and eaten a good breakfast. You want to be present if they wake up with a bad dream.?

Pitt and Jolie continuously insist that they are trying to create as normal of a life as possible for theirchildren, and statements like this make it seem like they?re doing a pretty good job. Hopefully all the chaos of having such famous parents doesn?t have a negative effect on the kids.

Rob Lowe is ''proud'' to have been a member of the notorious Brast Pack of the 1980s and is pleased the nickname has stood the test of time.

Rob Lowe "loves" the term Brat Pack and is proud he was part of it.

The 'St Elmo's Fire' actor was part of a group of young, hard-partying actors - along with stars including Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Andrew McCarthy - who were given the nickname in the early 80s and while most disliked the term, Rob admits he now has affection for it.

He said: "It's a brilliant moniker that's stood the test of time. But, y'know, the public - I think - don't look upon it as a pejorative. Today I love the term.

You know, if you were a part of something that people are still talking about, pretty affectionately for the most part, 25 years later, that's totally a good thing.

The 'West Wing' star was very competitive for roles at the time and once even nearly started a full blown fight with Tom Cruise - then still a rising star - as they rehearsed a fight scene, after he accidentally hit him for real, leading to his co-star to retaliate with such force they had to be pulled apart.

Rob said: "We all beat the living s**t out of one another. We really did. I got one clean shot on Tom, and Tom is such a competitive lunatic - which is what I love about him - but the next thing you know he's ready to kill me!"

Local exhibits, festivals and screenings embrace the arts of Cuba

There is a photo of a man slumbering on a chair in a Havana park that is part of the new Getty Museum exhibition, "A Revolutionary Project: Cuba from Walker Evans to Now."

Taken by Evans in 1933, it shows a worker, eyes closed, head propped up by his arm in uneasy rest. He could have dozed off waiting for someone or was waiting out the summer sun - or just waiting.

When it comes to Cuba, the picture could have been taken yesterday.

Waiting is what many do in the island nation, a communist state that was ruled by Fidel Castro for nearly 50 years and is now run by his brother, Raul. It is safe to say that many people, both in America and Cuba, are waiting for the Castros to die. In a half-century, very little has changed in relations between the two countries - heavy-duty travel restrictions remain despite a slight easement recently. However, there has been a sudden surge in things culturally Cuban happening around Los Angeles.

In the next three months, besides the Getty show, there will be other art exhibitions, a visit from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, a number of screenings of Cuban and Cuban-related films, a night of Cuban music at the Hollywood Bowl, the appearance of folk-rocker Carlos Varela, called the Bob Dylan of Cuba, at the Playboy Jazz Festival, and the induction of Cuban-born Grammy Award-winning pop music superstar Gloria Estefan into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.

No one seems to know why so many things Cuban have coincidentally

and unexpectedly popped up on the entertainment menu.

"It would be nice to say that it was somehow coordinated," says Rebecca Yeldham, director of the Los Angeles Film Festival, which is showing a number of Cuban films during the festival, which runs from June 16 to 26. "But it is fascinating that there is this very synergistic celebration across different mediums."

Indeed, some publicists have noticed many of the events have recently been branded under the heading " S Cuba! SoCal."

But even Judith Keller, who curated the Getty exhibit, was unaware until recently that there were other Cuban-related events going on. She had been planning the museum's show for quite some time, and part of it involved a State Department-sanctioned trip to Cuba last year, which took some five months for approval.

What she saw was a Havana that doesn't look much different than what is seen in the photos shot by Evans (1903?1975), which were taken as an assignment for a book called "The Crime of Cuba," an indictment of the corrupt regime of the nation's president Gerardo Machado, and the exploitation of the country by the U.S.

The photos Evans took, however, turned out to be more of an exploration, a documentation of old Havana, its decaying colonial architecture, and the people.

"Evans primarily photographed an area of the city called old Havana, which is now being heavily restored," explains Keller. "He had spent a year in Paris and wanted to become a writer. So for him having this old city to photograph (gave him) the freedom to shoot what he wanted to."

There were two influences on Evans at the time. One was French photographer Eug ne Atget, who was becoming known at the time for his documentation of old Paris. "I think an awful lot of what Evans did there was - especially the photographs of the storefronts and the carriages and older architecture - an imitation of Atget," says Keller.

While in Havana, Evans met Ernest Hemingway, whom he admired for his stripped-down writing style and political views and was interested in putting that aesthetic in his pictures. Interestingly, one of the photos in the exhibit shows a man standing in a doorway beside a film poster for "A Farewell to Arms." In one of those strange coincidences, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences currently has an exhibition called "Cuban Film Posters: From Havana to the World." The 125 hand-silkscreened posters, though, are all created post-1959, after the revolution; so "Adios a las Armas" - as it is known in Spanish - is not one of them.

Evans' photographs include portraits of poor workers, men in the ubiquitous Panama hats and a few stylish women, who may be streetwalkers. It's easy to see a connection to another part of the show that features three photographers who have chronicled Cuba since 1991, when the Soviet Union fell apart and the island nation lost its economic support. Known as the "Special Period" (per odo especial), the time was especially hard on the poor nation.

Some of Russian photographer Alexey Titarenko's black-and-white shots look like they could be part of the Evans group, so little seems to have changed.

"He grew up in Leningrad and to him it was just another Cold War city that is crumbling and that was devastated by communist rule," notes Keller about Titarenko's work.

Virginia Beahan's pictures explore the relationship of the country's landscape and its history, including the many reminders of the revolution that have been erected, from billboards to statues. A photo by Alex Harris, showing a young "Woman Posing in Her Living Room, with Camilo Cienfuegos on the TV" captures many of the aspects of modern Cuban life. A former student of Evans, Harris took portraits of women whose lives have been affected by the tourist-fueled sex trade and have become part-time prostitutes.

Contrast that with a shot in the third part of the exhibition of photos taken during and directly after the country's 1959 socialist revolution to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Alberto Korda's "Plaza de la Revoluci n, Havana, May 1963" shows proud armed women marching on parade, a far cry from Harris' image.

The revolution photos are from the private collection of Christian Skrein, and include an iconic shot of Che Guevara by Korda. As Keller notes, Castro understood the propaganda advantage to documenting the revolution and hired a number of photographers to do so. Many of the shots are restagings of key events, while others show communist ideals, like those women soldiers.

Harris liked to aim his camera at landscapes taken through the windshields of refurbished 1950s American cars. Since the U.S. embargo of 1962, Cubans have been unable to get American autos but have kept the ones they have running.

One of the films in the Los Angeles Film Festival, "Habana Eva," has a scene that spotlights one such car - that of a bride riding in an old convertible against the Havana skyline. The festival's artistic director, David Ansen, calls the film a romantic comedy that shows you the city and "what goes on in the foreground story and what goes around in the background story."

Ansen, who was a longtime film critic at Newsweek, and Yeldham, a producer whose credits include "The Motorcycle Diaries" about the young Che, took their own State Department-sanctioned trip to Cuba last December. They were there, along with others from the American movie industry, for the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana. The group included director Kathryn Bigelow and the writer Mark Boal, who introduced their Oscar-winning film "The Hurt Locker."

"We met with a lot of Cuban filmmakers while we were there," says Yeldham, "and out of that experience came the desire to continue furthering that cultural exchange. And in turn to bring Cuban films and filmmakers to the festival."

Calling it a "fascinating and complicated place," Ansen says there are two types of filmmaking going on in Cuba - movies that go through the official government channels and a growing independent film movement. Those are largely being financed by overseas money - "everything but American money," Ansen notes. He adds, "They have an amazing film school there, which brings people in from all over Latin America and Europe as well."

Though the flight from Miami was less than an hour, landing in Havana was something of a culture shock for Yeldham.

"It's so removed from American commercialism and consumerism, capitalism," says the producer. "I think for many of us - as well traveled as we are - we've never been anywhere quite like it, and it's such a creative place, born out of this situation dominated by meager resources."

Ansen says he was surprised by the variety of movies he saw, especially considering the government's hold on the people. One film at the festival is "Ticket to Paradise," set in the "Special Period" of the 1990s. "This movie shows a kind of desperation that people were driven to during that period," he says.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the showing of "Operation Peter Pan: Flying Back to Cuba." It's a documentary about some 14,000 Cuban children who were sent by their parents to the U.S. to "save" them from the revolution in the early 1960s. The film follows several "Peter Pans" who return to their homeland for the first time.

"The reason we're particularly excited about it is that since we announced this film," says Yeldham, "David and I have heard an outpouring of inquiries from `Peter Pans' - people who have come forth and declared themselves to either be the children who were sent to the U.S. or children of those children. And we are expecting quite a turnout at the festival."

A recent informal poll by a travel agency group says that if restrictions were lifted, most Americans would consider visiting Cuba.

It's all part of the waiting game that is the island nation, but with all that is happening around L.A., we can get a taste of it without getting on an airplane. Mojito anyone?

Bitch Stole My Look: Jennifer Lopez vs. Salma Hayek

Someone's been sprinkling a little extra Miracle-Gro on this floral shrug.

Jennifer Lopez was the first to plant this Gucci bolero on her shoulders at the 2011 Met Costume Institute Gala atop a sweeping key-hole gown.

Salma Hayek followed her lead a week later, wearing this fall foliage version to the Puss in Boots photocall in Cannes with a burnt orange leather dress.

(In Hayek's defense, she's not just being a red carpet copycat. The actress is also supporting hubby's company since he owns Gucci.)

So what do you think? Are you digging Jenny's high-drama interpretation or do you prefer Salma's autumn-inspired look? Weigh in below!

Lee DeWyze, 'Idol' producer feud over finale

Nigel Lythgoe insisted Lee DeWyze had an advanced invitation to participate in the 'Idol' finale.

Nigel Lythgoe insisted Lee DeWyze had an advanced invitation to participate in the 'Idol' finale.

Lee DeWyze's on-stage absence from the "American Idol" finale on Wednesday was no accident.

Viewers, many of whom had expected to see the Season 9 champ contribute to the Season 10 finale's festivities, were able to catch brief glimpses of the singer in the audience.

He never made it on stage, however, or even received an acknowledgement from host Ryan Seacrest. And according to executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, that's all DeWyze's fault.

"I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn't present the winners trophy to Scotty [McCreery]," Lythgoe tweeted Thursday. "Especially as he'd been on the show this Season."

The producer went on to "guess" that the mild-mannered rocker, who performed on the March 16 results show episode, was "shy."

But DeWyze, who hasn't been as successful as some of the other "Idol" winners, shared a different version of events, writing on Twitter that he "was not asked to be involved in the Finale."

THE BEST AND WORST CELEBRITY FEUDS

"It wasn't until about 2 minutes before they announced [the winner] that Nigel had approached me and asked if he could ?borrow' me for a second," DeWyze claimed. "I didnt feel a last second jump on stage was appropriate."

Adding that it was "Scotty's moment," DeWyze said he appreciated "Idol," its team and "the opportunity" the show had given him.

"I am not angry, or bitter etc," he said. "It was an amazing Finale, and I would have loved to be a part of it. I just wasnt asked."

Friday, Lythgoe partially confirmed DeWyze's claims, tweeting, "True, he wasn't asked to sing."

"But Lee knows he was asked to present the trophy a week before," he added.

It remains unclear which party is telling the truth, but Lythgoe made clear he wants the matter to be forgotten.

"I don't wish to continue the @leedewyze story," he wrote.

Barbara Sinatra tells about her life with Frank

By Craig Wilson, USA TODAY

Barbara Sinatra was her famous husband's fourth wife. Also his last. He died in her arms in 1998. They had been married 22 years.

Frank Sinatra's widow Barbara, 84, dishes on what it was like living with Ol' Blue Eyes in her new memoir.

It wasn't always pretty, although she says she was the "luckiest woman in the world" to be his wife.

Sinatra's widow, 84, is now telling what it was like living with Ol' Blue Eyes in her aptly titled memoir Lady Blue Eyes: My Life With Frank.

If you're interested in celebrity marriages, this memoir is the predictable dip into such shallow waters. If you're not, you can at least pass the time counting the names dropped. There are thousands.

Model, Vegas showgirl, wife of Zeppo Marx, Barbara had been out and about before she met Sinatra. He quickly won her over, but their long-term affair before their marriage did not please Sinatra's feisty mother, Dolly, who asked him, "Aren't there enough whores around?"

He was attentive, polite, but best of all he had a good eye "for stone," she writes. Meaning he could pick out amazing jewelry, including a famous Cartier necklace. And then there were the flights to Paris for dinner, the expensive cars, the suites in world-class hotels around the world. She calls it all "some candy jar."

There was a price to pay for all this, however. Sinatra could be a bully, screaming at Washington Post society columnist Maxine Cheshire and pushing a man into a phone booth, punching him before sliding the door shut.

She admits he was "definitely a Jekyll and Hyde" personality, recounting numerous evenings when he was overdrinking with his buddies, making scenes from New York to Hong Kong, ripping phones from the wall and throwing them into windows.

He also wasn't the most romantic. She had to accept that fact when a prenup was delivered to her on the morning of their wedding. She signed it.

Did he ever cheat? All she'll say is that she took Palm Springs neighbor Lee Annenberg's advice: Look the other way.

As for his connections to the Mob, she only says he got frustrated with the press for always alleging it. The press was not his favorite.

If you're a Sinatra fan, you'll learn he loved grilled cheese sandwiches, unfiltered Camels and Jack Daniels, but hated women who wore too much perfume. He also hated women who couldn't hold their liquor.

Barbara Sinatra could.
