Look out, every nightclub in Los Angeles: Lindsay Lohan is a free woman.

Following 35 days under grueling, sprawling house arrest, the troubled actress had her ankle monitor removed at 10:20 a.m. local time today. At last check, she remained inside her Venice Beach, California condo, but was on her way to fulfill community service obligations at any moment.

"I spoke with her yesterday and she told me she is eager to return to fulfilling her community service obligation which she has been unable to perform during house arrest," Lindsay's rep tells E! News.

It was a difficult month-plus for Lohan, who was stuck inside her $2.25 million estate and forced to give interviews from the comfort of her living room sofa.

We have no doubt she's learned her lesson, scale back on her partying, resurrect her career and... darn. We almost got that out with a straight face.

The Chelsea and England footballer, who's a big hip-hop fan, spent an hour in Jay-Z's Roc Nation headquarters to chat about a possible career in music after he retires from sport.�

'After spending years married to Cheryl Cole he knows a bit about the business,' a source tells The Sun.

'He's still got a good few years playing ahead of him but is looking ahead to what he'll do when he leaves the game.'

Ashley, 30, and Jay-Z first met at a concert in 2009 and the rap superstar is also a big fan of Cheryl's - he believes she can crack America.

'I know how hot Cheryl is in the UK,' Jay-Z, 41, told The Sun.

'The US market is the toughest one to break into...but I think Cheryl has that talent to do it.

'There is nobody in America like her right now, and I would be very interested in helping her break the US market.'

They don't always get along, but perhaps the ladies of The Real Housewives of New York City will sing along to Countess LuAnn de Lesseps's latest musical endeavor.

So which songs does the man himself prefer?

"It's got to be Lines on My Face, Doobie Wah and I Wanna Go to the Sun," says Frampton, who is on tour performing the album in its entirety in the USA and in Europe through Nov. 23.

"Lines is just the favorite song I ever wrote," says Frampton. "And Doobie Wah I am playing for the first time in 35 years, and it is just so much fun."

But it's Sun that amounts to a musician's dream of stardom.

"I wrote it when I was 22 or 23," he says. "I was saying, 'I want to make it.'"

Once Comes Alive! came out, Frampton went from "two fans waiting backstage to people throwing themselves at the car like flies." But his greatest point of pride isn't the album that captured a nation's heart during the Bicentennial year.

"What means the most to me is the critical acclaim I got as a guitar player on Fingerprints," he says. "It was my first huge success that had nothing to do with Frampton Comes Alive!"

The 'Tudors' star - who has been in rehab five times for alcohol problems - refused treatment by paramedics for more than 30 minutes, meaning they were forced to call police and he was eventually taken away by ambulance to a facility near his home in Maida Vale, north London.

A source said: "This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life."

Worried neighbours saw the 33-year-old actor - who was believed to have overdosed on unspecified pills - rushed to hospital.

One onlooker told The Sun newspaper: "I saw the ambulance arriving and was worried to death.

"Jonathan is a lovely guy. You see him all the time in the street. He says hello and is very pleasant. I hope he is fine."

The 'Velvet Goldmine' actor was discharged from hospital yesterday (29.06.11) but would only answer "no comment" when questioned on whether he had tried to commit suicide.

A police spokesperson confirmed they had been asked to attend the incident.

An official said: "Officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment. The man was taken to hospital."

Show them the money, and they try to cash a fraudulent check

An anonymous donor's recent gift to Los Angeles County has ended up proving the adage "No good deed goes unpunished."

The person sent a $10,000 check to the county last month for no reason other than wanting to help out the government during its economic crisis.

"In this time of economic difficulties, government needs all the help they can get," read the handwritten note accompanying the gift.

"Please put this anonymous check to good use," it added. "God bless you."

But a county gaffe exposed some financial information about the check on the Internet and apparently led to at least one failed attempt to fraudulently access bank funds.

When county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky's office blogged about the rare and generous gift, it posted a photo of the actual cashier's check - including the routing number.

The website story, headlined "The patron saint of ... government?" went viral.

Within days, someone in Washington, D.C., apparently tried to run a counterfeit check scam using the same information from the donor's check.

"Unfortunately, we got one complaint from the East Coast about someone having tried to present them with a fake version of this check," said David Sommers, the county's public information officer.

He said the county immediately

took steps to block the scam, including contacting federal investigators and asking Internet search engines to remove all photos of the check online.

"The county tried to make sure that there were no instances of anyone trying to do a scam that took advantage of the good nature of this person," Sommers said. "Basically, we didn't want to overreact to something even after we found out that it appeared to be a single isolated instance."

Not all websites, however, have removed the check image. A quick Google search Wednesday revealed at least two websites that continue to post images of the check.

Yaroslavsky's spokesman, Joel Bellman, said the supervisor's office never anticipated its blog entry would be misused.

"Obviously, it hadn't occurred to anybody that this would be a problem," he said. "It was one of those unanticipated problems where, you know, a larcenous-minded opportunist jumped in and tried to take advantage of an innocent situation but apparently was thwarted."

Funds are being protected

There appears to have been no other attempts to commit fraud using the check - at least so far.

Both Sommers and Bellman emphasized that while there may be copies of the check still available in cyberspace, bank authorities have taken precautions to protect the funds.

The cashier's check was purchased at Banner Bank in Bellingham, Wash., on May 2. It was mailed to the county Auditor-Controller's Office and the bank declined to identify the donor to county officials.

Auditor-Controller Wendy Watanabe said while the county receives financial donations, they are usually designated for specific county programs, not for the general fund.

"We were elated that there would be such a good person out there," Watanabe said on Yaroslavsky's website. "Most of the time we get attacked for overspending. For someone to actually donate to the government, it's just unheard of."

"Why this person picked L.A. County, we have not a clue," she added. "Maybe they've sent $10,000 to every government agency out there."

Ohio Heartbeat Bill Seeking To Impose Abortion Restrictions Advances

COLUMBUS (Reuters) - The Ohio House of Representatives on Tuesday voted to ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detectable, which can be as early as six weeks.

The House voted 54 to 43 for the ban, along party lines, with most Republicans voting in favor.

If enacted, the law would be a challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which upheld a woman's right to an abortion until the fetus is viable outside the womb, usually at 22-24 weeks.

Republican Ohio House Speaker William Batchelder said he knows this bill will face a court challenge.

"We're writing bills for courts," he said.

The bill now goes to the Republican-dominated Ohio Senate.

The Ohio House also passed two other abortion restrictions Tuesday, one that would ban late-term abortions after 20 weeks if a doctor determines that the fetus is viable outside the womb. Another bill excludes abortion coverage from the state insurance exchange created by the federal health care law.

The late-term ban already was passed by the Ohio Senate.

Neither bill was as contentious as the heartbeat legislation, which does not contain exceptions for rape, incest or the life or health of the mother.

Republican Representative Danny Bubp said the bill is the will of the voters. He noted that Republicans, who tend to favor anti-abortion laws, became the majority in the state house last November.

"We have to reflect on what Ohio did on November 2nd of last year," said Bubp. "And that is they voted. And they voted for change. Today, we have three pro-life bills on the floor and I'm happy about that."

Democrats in the Ohio House said the heartbeat bill goes too far.

"This bill gives the government the ultimate power, the ultimate power to intrude upon the most personal and intimate decisions of our lives, of women's lives, frankly," said Rep. Connie Pillich.

Ohio Right to Life also has expressed concerns about the heartbeat bill. The organization said the bill is unconstitutional and believes it is not wise to spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer's dollars defending it.

Historian: Kate Middleton, Jane Austen Are Related

If Kate Middleton's romance with Prince William seems like a modern fairy tale, you're definitely on the right track. New information has just been released connecting Middleton to romance writer Jane Austen in what's shaping up to be a stellar family tree.

According to Ancestry.com (via PEOPLE), Middleton and Austen ((b. 1775) are eleventh cousins, six times removed. The pair are connected through Henry Percy (b. 1392), who was the second Earl of Northumberland.

So basically Middleton and the 'Emma' writer are really, really, really distant relatives. But, as Brits know all too well, a bloodline is a bloodline.

"Finding this connection between the Duchess of Cambridge and Jane Austen is very exciting since, in many ways, Catherine is the modern Jane Austen heroine: a middle-class girl marrying the future King of England," lead Ancestry.com historian Anastasia Harman said.

In case you forgot, Middleton was just a commoner before she married her own Prince Charming back in April.

"Jane Austen may have written about happily-ever-after, but it seems Catherine has found a nonfiction hero to spend her life with -- far past the epilogue," Harman said.

And to bring everything full circle, the news of Middleton and Austen's family ties comes on the 200th anniversary of Austen's 'Sense and Sensibility.' Poetic, no?

However, the romantic writer isn't Middleton's only acclaimed relative. Back in February, TV host Ellen DeGeneres received news that she, too, is related to the new Duchess of Cambridge.

"You are distant cousins ... but cousins still the same," a letter from the New England Genealogical Society told DeGeneres, claiming the future royal and talk show host are 15th cousins, related by a man named Sir Thomas Fairfax and his wife, Agnes Gascoigne.

But, even though they're cousins, DeGeneres was unfortunately left off the wedding guest list.

Glenn Beck Says Family was Harassed in NYC, Preaches to "Hateful People"

Glenn Beck and his family attended a screening of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps in Bryant Park on Monday night, but the host explained on his radio show today that he was greeted with anything but a warm welcome.

"It was a hostile situation," he said, detailing how wife Tanya had wine "intentionally kicked on her back" and how a man pointed at Tanya and Beck's daughter and screamed: "We hate conservatives here!"

No one told the trouble makers to knock it off, Beck continued.

"I apologize to anybody who had their movie experience wrecked because of the people that found it so necessary to spew hatred," he went on. "But there's nothing I can do about it."

Beck described the harassers as "arrogant 25-year olds" and said they were the "most hateful people I've ever seen." But there's a hope for these lost souls... if only they realize it soon.

"All I could think of about the people around me all night was I feel sorry for you. I really feel sorry for you... you are so lost... and so convinced that you are absolutely 100% right, and you are helping build a system that is fueled by hate. Is 'Idol' Thinking About Life Without Jennifer Lopez?

Jennifer, who currently earns a reported $12 million for her one-year deal with 'Idol' -- a touch below the $35 mil Simon earned -- needs to ask herself how much her contribution to the show is really worth.

"'Idol' has resurrected her much-stalled music career," one music exec tells me, referring to 'On the Floor,' the singer's first radio hit in a while. "Likewise, 'Idol' didn't fall apart when Simon left and Jennifer has to get some of the credit for that. But let's also remember the show didn't increase in ratings and that is also thanks to J.Lo."

Jennifer told the BBC: "I loved 'Idol,' but I have a lot of other things happening, and it's going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year ... We're not really at the breaking point of 'You have to make a decision right now!'"

Be careful, Jennifer, I'm being told the names Shania Twain and Shakira are already being mentioned in hopes of bringing in viewers!

Media Matters Toasts Final Glenn Beck Show With Silly Party (VIDEO)

Glenn Beck's tenure at Fox News will come to an end on Thursday, and no organization seems happier about his impending signoff than Media Matters, the progressive news watchdog group that has spent months pressuring advertisers and network executives to pull Beck out of his hourlong 5 p.m. slot.

?Survivor? Host Jeff Probst Lands A Daytime Talk Show!

Emmy-winning ?Survivor? host Jeff Probst has signed on for his own hour-long talk show on CBS!

Jeff Probst has signed a deal with CBS to host a daytime talk show, which will begin in fall 2012.

?I?m fascinated with human nature and thrilled that this show will allow me the opportunity to connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level,? Probst said in a statement. ?As I continue with Survivor, I am excited to extend my relationship with CBS with this new adventure in the world of daytime.?

Probst does have experience on a talk show and has filled in for both Regis Philbin and Larry King in the past.

The dimpled host?s new show will cover a broad spectrum of topics.

Survivor is currently filming its 23rd and 24th seasons in Samoa.� It appears as if Probst will still serve as host on the show.

Brazil's First Gay Marriage Approved By Sao Paulo Judge

SAO PAULO (AP) ? A Brazilian state judge on Monday approved what the court said is the nation's first gay marriage.

Sao Paulo state Judge Fernando Henrique Pinto ruled two men could convert their civil union into a full marriage. Brazil's Supreme Court cleared the way in May for the recognition of same-sex civil unions, but stopped short of approving gay marriages.

A court statement said Pinto made the decision based on the top court's ruling on civil unions and on Brazil's constitution, which outlines how a civil union can be converted into a legal marriage.

Benjamin Polastri, a spokesman with the Sao Paulo state Attorney General's Office, said it was not immediately clear if the ruling set a strong national precedent. Polastri also said the just-approved gay marriage was the first for South America's biggest nation.

Jose Luiz Bednarski, a lawyer for the Sao Paulo state attorney general, said in an opinion presented to Pinto that the marriage was legal.

"The federal constitution establishes as a fundamental objective of the Federal Republic of Brazil to promote the good of everyone without bias of gender or any other form of discrimination," Bednarski wrote. "This certainly includes the choice or sexual orientation of a person."

In the Brazilian legal system, judges often seek the opinion of a state or federal attorney general about a case.

After-hours calls were not answered at the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops, whose lawyers took the lead in arguing against the Supreme Court's civil union case.

While the court released only the initials of the couple that was married, the Globo television network's G1 website identified the men as Sergio Kauffman Sousa and Luiz Andre Moresi. They asked a state court in the city of Jacarei, 53 miles (85 kilometers) northeast of Sao Paulo, to approve their marriage.

"It's an immense joy. I'm still trying to comprehend this historic moment," Moresi told G1. "We've fought for so many years and now that it's happened we're in ecstasy. I dedicate this victory to all the activists."

Luiz Mott, founder of Grupo Gay da Bahia, the oldest gay rights organization in Brazil, called the marriage a huge step for LGBT rights in the country.

"Now any couple can ask for the same thing. It's a great advance," he said.

In Latin America, gay marriage is legal only in Argentina and Mexico City.

Same-sex civil unions granting some rights to homosexual couples are legal in Uruguay and in some states of Mexico outside the capital. Colombia's Constitutional Court has granted same-sex couples inheritance rights and allowed them to add their partners to health insurance plans.

Moresi said that he knew the Sao Paulo state court's ruling could be reversed by a higher court, but that "we'll take the case to the Supreme Court if needed."

Sousa told G1 that he and Moresi had been together for eight years and filed for civil union designation in May, less than two weeks after the Supreme Court ruling allowed them to do so. On June 6, they asked the state court to recognize their civil union as a marriage.

Pinto cited the Brazilian Constitution's section on civil unions, literally referred to as "stable unions," saying a couple "living together can, by mutual agreement and at any time, request the conversion of a stable union into a marriage."

Monday's decision, along with the May ruling by the Supreme Court on civil unions, comes at a time of increasing violence targeting gays in Brazil.

Grupo Gay da Bahia, which has tracked violence against gays for 30 years, said in a report earlier this year that 260 gays were murdered in 2010 in Brazil, up 113 percent from five years ago.

Thank you, Miley Cyrus. It's been far too long since we mocked your fashion choices.

The singer took her international Gypsy Heart Tour to Brisbane, Australia late last week, entertaining screaming fans with tracks from "Can't Be Tamed" and also covering a couple classics.

Mexican Singer Paulina Rubio Arrested After Car Crash in Miami

Paulina Rubio fought the law this weekend in Miami...and the law won.

After crashing her BMW into another car Saturday, the Mexican pop singer was arrested near Miami's Little Havana.

It wasn't the smashup itself that landed the Latin sensation in handcuffs, however, but a clash with cops after the accident.

So what did Rubio do to provoke the police?and how did her 6-month-old baby save her a trip to the slammer?

According to the arrest report, Rubio was asked to get out of her car but refused, cursing at one officer on the scene and telling police, "All of you Miami cops are abusive."

The report goes on to say that after Rubio refused the officer's requests, she began to "frantically" make phone calls, in a "very agitated" state, and told the cop, "I'm not getting out of the car!"

Rubio was still behind the wheel when she became more aggressive and frantic, according to the report, with the cop expressing concern for everyone's safety.

She began yelling: "What the f--k do you want me to do? I just had an accident and I'm very nervous. That's why people don't like you because all you Miami cops are abusive."

Rubio�continued to yell and scream as a crowd gathered around�her and she�refused to step out of harm's way and onto the sidewalk.

Once she was handcuffed and being placed into a patrol car, Rubio began yelling to onlookers "Help! Help! I didn't do anything! Look what they're doing! Help! Abusers! You bunch of liars! Help!"

She also informed police they'd "regret" their actions and said she was calling her attorney.

Rubio was charged with refusing to obey a lawful command and eventually calmed down and apologized.

She was not taken into custody due to an "extenuating circumstance": she needed to breastfeed her baby.

Rubio was ordered to appear in court on charges of disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and refusal to obey a lawful command.
