Man fatally shot while riding a bike in apparent gang-related attack in Silver Lake area

LOS ANGELES - A man riding a bicycle was fatally shot Sunday night in an apparent gang-related attack in the Silver Lake area, police said today.

The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Hoover Street and Del Mar Avenue, Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The man, about 25 to 30 years old, died at a hospital, Faden said. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of kin. There were no arrests.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man was riding a bicycle when he was bumped from behind by a vehicle, Faden said.

One or more people in the vehicle then shot him and fled, Faden said.
