Actors Catherine Zeta Jones, right, and Michael Douglas are apparently quite the affectionate couple.Funny business
Jon Hamm has some seriously funny friends. Wednesday night, Hamm caught the rump end of Comedy Central's "Roast of Trump," then headed to Gotham Hall for the after-party. He spent time catching up with "Mad Men" co-stars John Slattery and Talia Balsam, then made a beeline for roast vet Jeff Ross. Hamm greeted him by running his hands through the schlubby comedian's hair, which was styled in a fluffy pompadour for the evening. After they talked, Hamm told us the two were old pals: mutual friend Sarah Silverman had introduced them, and they all "used to play poker in L.A. together."
ON THE TOWN
Al Reynolds has hit the city. A source tells us the 42-year-old ex-hubby of Star Jones dined at Asellina in the Gansevoort Park hotel on Wednesday night with pal Jennifer Williams, from VH1?s ?The Basketball Wives.? After they split a meal of fish and sea-urchin pasta, the two headed to Chelsea club Avenue to dance off some calories.
STILL IN LOVE
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are one expressive couple. The duo caused quite a bit of rubbernecking when they were seated at a window table at Marea on Wednesday night. A source tells us that passersby at the Central Park South restaurant kept peering through the window at the glamorous pair, who seemed to be entertaining each other with impersonations of other people. Zeta-Jones' blinged-out hands also worked as attention-drawing beacons: Our source, who was dining there, says the "massive" diamond rings Catherine wore threw off quite a bit of sparkle as she forked her fish. Douglas enjoyed risotto.
ALL ABOUT THE LAUGHS
The Inner Circle, an annual charity event in which members of NYC's political press lampoon the officials they cover, is all about the laughs ? and this year, the cast has a rehearsal space to match. They're working out the musical production's kinks at the city's inner sanctum for comics and well-connected dentists, the Friar's Club. The official performance takes place March 26 at the N.Y. Hilton. Inspired by the Ben Stiller-Robert De Niro "Fockers"movie franchise, the show is called "Meet the Focker-Uppers"and will include Mayor Bloomberg and his aides' handling of the city's snow-pocalypse. In keeping with the subject, we're told the show will be held "snowstorm permitting."
NO CRYING OVER SPLIT CHAMPAGNE
Katie Lee, Ann Dexter-Jones, Alina Cho and Marisa Brown weren't crying over a little spilled Champagne at the Chloe Madison Ave. boutique on Wednesday evening. A source tells us the women were hobnobbing in a huddle at the charity fete for New Yorkers for Children, which supports youth in foster care, when one accidentally bumped into another guest, knocking the Champagne flute out of her hand to the floor, where it shattered. The insider says the reception was so crowded that store assistants had a tough time cleaning the mess.
WIN-SURANCE
Now that Charlie Sheen is shopping a memoir, we have to say we like the perspective of "The Bookie,"an anonymous blogger who's begun looking at publishing through the eyes of a comic card sharp on the discussion boards of thecopia.com. "Anyone who signs Sheen is hereby advised to take out a ?Death by Misadventure or Stupidity' policy,"writes the Bookie, who puts the odds that "There's a deal done by the time you finish this sentence at 50,000 to 1."
